Reports suggest that both iPad 3 and iPhone 5 will be released this year. iPad 3 is rumored to support Retina display and the iPhone 5 supposedly has an entirely new design. Whether these are incremental jumps over their predecessors or major hardware changes is yet unknown.
Microsoft announced “Natural User-Interface Ads” or NUads for Kinect. This will supposedly solve the issue of advertisements being a passive medium targeted at an interactive group of people. Users will use Kinect inputs to interact with ads. For example, you can say “Xbox near me,” to have a map of the nearest outlet sent to your phone.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said in an interview that we will see more of Duke Nukem in the future. Whether he appears in a new game, comic, T.V show or movie, Duke will not go away. Hopefully his next showing doesn’t arrive for another 14 years.
Online retailer Shopto.net leaked that Playstation Vita will launch on November 4th. Sony hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but the release date makes sense given Sony’s plan to release the powerful handheld towards the end of the year.
Half-Life and Portal developer Valve stated that it will be at Gamescom 2011. Valve was noticeably absent from E3 this year, so this might be its chance to show off DOTA 2, or possibly announce the highly anticipated Half-Life 2: Episode 3.
