Why Blizzard has “street corner pharmaceutical” consultants on staff

by joel on July 11, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Whenever a game company has as many subscribers as Blizzard currently does, it shouldn’t really surprise anyone that their numbers take dips every now and then. But, what IS surprising, is when aforementioned game company resorts to drug dealer type activities to get people back.

Well, I guess they have to try something, right?

You may have heard, we have a new T-shirt in the store! Now, when you forget your clever, trendy or hipster T-shirt, you can let everyone know it’s at home! Ive heard some people like it – maybe you will too:

My other shirt says something clever and/or trendy. Also, it's hipster.

Black ops monkeys as a conduit for revenge

by joel on July 10, 2011 at 12:42 am

Don’t ask about this one. What’s that? Oh, all right – I suppose I can let you in on the inside joke. For years, Releshes has “won” every argument with the threat of somehow absconding with my shoes and filling them with, well, you can see above. Why? I have no idea – in a way, I suppose it was a moment of ‘brilliance’ as it just so happens to turn the tide of a conversation – sometimes.

When I read a recent WIRED article about how iPhone users are the most prolific mobile game players, and spend an average of 14 hours a month gaming, my surprise was not that people spent so MUCH time gaming on their phone, it was that they spend so little. For a device that literally goes everywhere with you, people are simply not taking advantage of the situation enough! In an elevator? Game time. Boring meeting? Game time. Signifigant other telling you for the 9th time to take out the trash? You get the idea.

This conversation is being recorded – Episode 4

by joel on July 8, 2011 at 8:35 am
Posted In: Podcast

This week we tackle a number of, shall we say, philosophical questions as well as the normal fare. For example, topics range from whether or not to tell your significant other you dislike something about them (yes – though we do not guarantee positive results) to justice vs forgiveness and an interesting discussion on the free to play, micropayment strategy being employed in so many of todays games. Take a listen below, or subscribe to our iTunes feed here or our podcast feed here. Also, if you want us to answer YOUR question, just use the contact form here.

Even in a pinch, your tie should NEVER be used for this…

by joel on July 6, 2011 at 11:29 pm

One would never think that the absorbency rating of your tie would be a figure you should know, but there are just times when things go down (literally) and you are powerless to stop them. In those moments of desperation, a thick, robust cotton tie is your best bet. Silk should be avoided at all cost!

I know it is old news, but I picked up a copy of FFXIII on the cheap, and I must say, I am actually enjoying it. Sure, the battle system is clunky, some characters a little whiney, but over-all the story is engaging, voice acting well executed, and the visuals are stellar. Timing is everything – after this much time, I’ve heard all of the negatives so my expectations were pretty low. Turns out I am pleasantly surprised AND I got it cheap. Works for me!

We’ll be attending Interventioncon September 16th – 18th and we hope to see you there. No word yet on whether or not we’ve gotten one of the coveted table spots or onto a panel, but we’ve got our fingers crossed. If you’re going – drop us a line and let us know so we can connect!
